β-Galactosidase Staining Kits
β-galactosidase, also called beta-gal or β-gal, hydrolyzes β-galactosides into monosaccharides. Ganglioside GM1, lactosylceramides, lactose, and different glycoproteins are substrates of various β-galactosidases. β-galactosidase is the enzyme encoded by the LacZ gene. It is very stable, resistant to proteolytic degradation. This kit uses X-gal (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl β-D-galactopyranoside) as the substrate.
