Adenylate Cyclase Inhibitors
Adenylate cyclase (or Adenylyl Cyclase) is an enzyme that synthesizes cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP or cyclic AMP) from adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Hormones and chemical signals from outside of the cell act on adenylate cyclase which is located in the plasma membrane. Cyclic AMP is a second messenger that transmits signals from outside to inside of the cell in stages. Adenylate cyclase inhibitors decrease intercellular cAMP levels.
