Cell permeable, competitive inhibitor of PHDs (prolyl hydroxylase domain-containing proteins; HIF-PHs), which destructs HIF-1α when hydroxylated at a specific proline residue (P564). Stabilizes HIF (Hypoxia-inducible Factor)-1α expression at normal oxygen tensions in cultured cells at concentrations between 0.1 and 1mM. Expected to act pro-angiogenic.
