Product Description
S-100b isoform composed of ββ-subunits, purified from porcine brain. Elevated S-100b serum levels are markers of stroke and cerebral edema. The S-100 proteins are acidic Ca²⁺ binding proteins, predominately found in glial cells. Evidence indicates that upon binding to Ca²⁺, S-100 proteins expose a hydrophobic domain to the solvent in a form similar to calmodulin. Also reported to regulate, within the cell walls, adenylate cyclase, aldolase activities, ATPase, microtubules, and protein phosphorylation. Product is not for animal treatment use, in vivo research or in other contact procedures involving livestock.
